First time leading research and department
by Emily Liu“I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” ― Maya Angelou Being a professor, instructor, researcher, advisor, mentor, and later department head has continuously developed and shaped a better me. It is wonderful to encourage and help others pursue their dreams. It is memorable to work through the ups and downs of courses, research, and admin services with students and colleagues. And it is especially rewarding to know that my words and actions made positive impacts on people’s lives. Growing up from a poor family in rural countryside, I am thankful for every step of my professional journey, especially the old RPI, the career home where I have lived the longest so far. It is never too late to be even better!
