2002 – 2006
First time winning a Truman Scholarship for RPI
by Kyle GraceyMy advisor called me into his office in the spring of 2005. He said it was to talk about my class schedule for my upcoming senior year. When I entered, I was also greeted by the Dean of the Humanities and Social Sciences and a writer from the media office. Earlier that winter, I had applied for the Harry S. Truman Scholarship, the federal government's highest graduate school scholarship for people who want to work in public service. I had won the scholarship, and learned that I was the first awardee from RPI. I felt really proud to add RPI's name to the list of schools that have Truman Scholars. Almost 20 years later, I've spent most of my career working at the intersection of technology and public policy, using my RPI education nearly every day!
